Technical cooperation with the countries of the Eastern Partnership

Use of regional synergies in the area of quality infrastructure

Background

Whilst COOMET covers metrology, there are no such regional organizations or for an offering an exchange of experience related to accreditation and market surveillance.
So far, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine do little exchange of experiences within the region in the fields of accreditation and market surveillance, so that the lessons learned could be shared and synergies could be used. This approach of transferring knowledge within the region can be supported by PTB as a recognized impartial partner.

Potential for professional exchange of experience

Whilst COOMET covers metrology, there are no such regional organizations or for an offering an exchange of experience related to accreditation and market surveillance.

For the field of accreditation, all states of the EaP are associated members of the European Organization for Accreditation EA. The development status of the QI-institutions of the EaP countries is approximately analogous to the speed of political approximation to the EU. Due to the internationally clearly defined and undisputed technical requirements, a closer cooperation between the accreditation bodies of the EaP region would certainly add value.

The issue of market surveillance is becoming increasingly important, but it is still very little applied in the countries of the EaP. Exchanges, awareness-raising and training activities would be beneficial to the states of the EaP and could be made possible through close contacts with the Advisory Group Market Surveillance of the UNECE WP6. PTB will assess a future cooperation with the market surveillance bodies in the Eastern Partnership.
